About me, my market, and what I love most about my work:
Hello there, I’m Matteo Ghidoni, and I’ve been on a remarkable journey in the world of journalism and entertainment since 2008. I’m a professional who thrives in challenging and dynamic environments, always open to new perspectives and experiences. My passion lies in creating video content and articles that captures the essence of the stories I encounter, through the lens of my camera or the tips of my fingers.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my stories with audiences through reputable outlets like NBC, NY Post, VOA, FOX, Sky, RAI, CGTN, and numerous others. Whether I’m working solo as a one-man band or leading a motivated crew, I approach my work with a proactive and hands-on attitude. My goal is to craft stories that resonate deeply with viewers and readers.
For the past nine years, I’ve called Hollywood and the USA my home while working as a correspondent for various Italian and international media outlets. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian. Whether I’m working with cameras, micro cameras, video-editing programs or a simple pen, I am always looking for new adventures, stories to tell and people to interview. I am glad to be part of CCA, because that allows me to get a closer look to the Hollywood universe, that has been my passion since I was a child. Along the years I had the opportunity to interview a large number of the most important celebrities and personalities, during the most prestigious industry events.
I feel at ease working on a red carpet as much as I love to pack my bag and go on a road trip to create a new exciting reportage that allows me to better understand a new portion of the world.
My market expands from Italian to international media, from the most glamorous entertainment events to local news, passing through documentaries and long form projects. I love to be able to explore the many layers of our society and taking inspiration from it. I am also honored to be the official camera for all three Italian movie festivals that take place in Los Angeles.
My experiences living in different countries have given me a deep appreciation for cultural differences, allowing me to adapt my storytelling approach to connect with diverse audiences. I’m not just a journalist; I’m a global citizen who believes in the power of storytelling to bridge gaps and foster understanding.
But it’s not just about the technicalities, it’s about passion. I love what I do, and I approach every project with the eagerness to learn and grow creatively. In the fast-paced world of multimedia journalism, I strive to push boundaries and redefine what’s possible.
This is my passion project, or passion in general:
I love documentaries. The last long form documentary I had the pleasure to work on as a cinematographer, Our Dad Danielle (2022) won several awards in the USA and Europe.
Along the years I could travel the US filming several different short documentaries, from locations like the Navajo Nation, Montana, Miami and Portland, just to name a few. Every trip with a camera in my bag and a crew on my side, it’s a gift and the reason why I choose this life.
At the moment I am in the first phases of a larger project, that will hopefully include a lot of traveling and filming, fingers crossed!
What it means to me to be part of the CCA:
Hollywood and the world of entertainment are among my greatest passions. Becoming a part of the CCA has allowed me to elevate my skills and connect with a broader network of outstanding professionals. The award season is my favorite time of the year. For me, becoming a member has been both an honor and a significant achievement. Membership was granted after dedicating nine years to working on the most prestigious red carpets and festivals in the industry. As a member of the Critics Choice Association, I’ve contributed by actively participating in discussions and assisting in the selection of the finest audiovisual content that the industry and the world have to offer. This is a role I’ve embraced in the past, continue to embrace in the present, and look forward to maintaining in the future.
My favorite film/TV series that I am currently watching and why:
At home at the moment I am re-watching Orange is the New Black, a timeless gem in my opinion. I am also going to the movies a lot as the new award season is starting.
