About me, my market, and what I love most about my work:

I’m Felipa Solis and films have been my passion all of my life. I have been doing film reviews as a proud member of the Critics Choice Association for 21 years and represent KTSM TV Channel 9 in El Paso, Texas. I have the best of both worlds as I also work with a Non-Profit music organization making music accessible to all. Film and music unite for exceptional collaborations. My father, Antonio Triana, was born in Spain and was a renowned Flamenco Dance Choreographer for film and performance. He left Spain during the Spanish Civil War and the Franco regime and was proud to be honored as an Honorary Citizen of Mexico alongside such luminaries as Luis Bunuel. My proud Hispanic heritage was instilled early on as was my love of film, from Chaplin to Cantinflas. What a glorious summer, and having the privilege of sharing films showcasing our incredibly diverse community including the legendary Cassandro,  Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and even our first Hispanic Super Hero, Blue Beetle, who is indeed from El Paso. I love to share stories about films, their roots and keeping our incredible culture alive!

This is my passion project, or passion in general:

Providing Film, Art and Music to soothe, heal, comfort, educate and inspire.

What it means to me to be part of the CCA:

I joined the CCA in 2002 and it was such a dream come true to be able to review films, engage with the film community, and participate in fabulous events in Los Angeles, (my hometown), and New York. I take pride in participating in such an important organization that has made a strong impact on our film industry and is so very inclusive of members like me, who are looking at films that make a difference for all. I have made lifelong friends, and I have been given the opportunity to meet and interview the most incredible artists in the world of film, (with wonderful moments that included discussing the Spanish Civil War with Guillermo del Toro, and the beautiful barrio of Roma with Alfonso Cuaron.) Representing El Paso, Texas and sharing my love of film with this border community is very special for me, and the CCA makes it all happen. Thank you CCA for this beautiful “sueno!”

My favorite film/TV series that I am currently watching and why:

What We Do in the Shadows. I think that Taika Waititi is brilliant, and I have been an incredible fan of this project since the film was released. I also absolutely love Harvey Guillen, and his heritage is truly a remarkable part of the show.
