About me, my market, and what I love most about my work:
Aramide A. Tinubu is a film critic, consultant, producer and entertainment editor. As a journalist, her work has been published in Netflix’s Tudum, EBONY, JET, ESSENCE, Bustle, The Daily Mail, IndieWire, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. She wrote her master’s thesis on Black Girlhood and Parental Loss in Contemporary Black American Cinema.

I love seeing and writing about historical films and TV shows as well as unpacking narratives from Black women’s perspectives.

This is my passion project, or passion in general:
I finished my pilot just before the writers strike based on my cousin’s life in the ’90s growing up in Chicago. I am looking forward to working on it further once the strike is over and a fair agreement is reached. In general, I am passionate about seeing all aspects of the Black American experience on-screen, especially when it’s told from the perspective of Black women.

What it means to me to be part of the CCA:
The CCA has been such a pivotal part of my career, they’ve really spotlighted my work while allowing me to connect with others in the field. It’s been wonderful to be recognized for my contributions to the industry while seeing an avenue and path for even more growth.

My favorite film/TV series that I am currently watching and why:
My favorite film of the year this far is A.V. Rockwell’s A Thousand and One. I’ve also truly enjoyed both Nat Geo’s A Small Light and the live-action version of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey.
