“Toy Story 5” Earns the Critics Choice Seal of Distinction

Avert your eyes so the toys can do their thing – Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 5 has earned the Critics Choice Seal of Distinction. The usual gang of colorful pals is back together again, maneuvering through our modern world where screen time is eclipsing the time kids used to spend playing with toys. Scarlett Spears returns to voice Bonnie who, in an effort to connect with kids her own age, is gifted a Lily Pad (Greta Lee) smart device.

Needless to say, Sheriff Jessie (Joan Cusack) is less than thrilled and calls in reinforcements – Woody (Tom Hanks) emerges from his life off the grid with Bo (Annie Potts). And for some mysterious reason, there are 50 Buzz Lightyears (Tim Allen X 50) who are hot on the trail of Star Command.

While Jessie is plunged into processing the trauma of losing her original best kid friend Emily, she meets some new friends who also are experiencing obsolescence – Smarty Pants (Conan O’Brien), Atlas (Craig Robinson), and Snappy (Shelby Rabara).

Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3 were all CCA nominees in 2013 for Favorite Film Franchise. Toy Story 4 won the Critics Choice Award for Best Animated Feature in 2020.
