The National Football League is attempting a Hail Mary to retain viewership of its nearly 50% female audience by releasing its third Holiday Touchdown film co-produced by Hallmark Media. Since 2024, the league known for live sports has released Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story (evoking thoughts of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift) and Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story (evoking thoughts of Jim Kelly and Damar Hamlin, but just as guys who play on the same team).
And as Christmas 2026 rapidly approaches, the NFL has announced the team featured in their third film: the Chicago Bears. Scheduled for release on October 17, Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story stars Lyndsy Fonseca as a journalist assigned to profile a Bears superfan. Robert Buckley is that fan’s firefighter grandson.
The ratings of their previous films are encouraging. The Chiefs film snagged 3.7 million viewers and was the most-watched cable movie of the year. The Bills film served up 2.3 million views. 72% of the viewing audience was female.
Yahoo Sports reports Chicago Bears president Kevin Warren is enthusiastic about the partnership. “As we continually look for ways to further the connection with our passionate Chicago Bears fans and amplify our global brand in creative ways, we will provide our club and our fans with the opportunity to grow together by creating a special, meaningful movie.”
