Pete Hammond is the Chief Film Critic for Deadline, where he has also served as Awards Editor and columnist. Previously, he wrote a similar awards column for the Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope.
He also hosts the PBS SoCal (formerly KCET) Cinema Series in Los Angeles, as well as Must See Movies, a series on PBS SoCal which showcases classic films.
Throughout his career, Pete has served as a film critic for Boxoffice Magazine, Backstage, Hollywood.com, Movieline, and Maxim, and has been a frequent contributor to Variety. He has moderated panels at numerous festivals and has interviewed many of the industry’s leading stars and filmmakers.
In addition, Pete has held producing positions at Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Access Hollywood, The Arsenio Hall Show (where he also served as a writer), The Martin Short Show, and AMC Networks.
Pete is a five-time Emmy Award nominee for writing, and he received the Publicists Guild of America’s Press Award in 1996. In 2013, he became just the second journalist in the organization’s history to receive the honor twice. He also served six years on the Television Academy’s Board of Governors representing the Writers Peer Group.
