Preston Barta began his career in film journalism in 2010, first behind the microphone in radio broadcasting at 92.1 KTFW in Fort Worth. In the years that followed, he contributed to a range of North Texas publications and podcasts, including Fresh Fiction and My Bloody Podcast, sharpening his voice as a critic and interviewer. Since 2015, he has served as the senior film and television critic at the Denton Record-Chronicle, and in 2025 he joined the Dallas Observer as a regular contributor covering film, arts/culture, and music. Preston brings genuine passion to his work. Above all, he’s a proud father of three movie-loving kids who share his love of the big screen. Preston has been a CCA member since 2020.
