Mario Alegre was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After graduating from the University of the Sacred Heart in 2005 with a BA in Journalism, he immediately started working for Primera Hora, the second-highest-circulation newspaper on the island. Within a year, he was writing weekly movie reviews. He became the paper’s chief film critic and remained in the role for more than 12 years, covering events like the Toronto International Film Festival, a first for any local publication. Mario has been a CCA member since 2019.
