Lynn (Zipfel) Venhaus has had a continuous byline in St. Louis metro region publications since 1978, working at daily newspapers and in community news. She writes features and news for Belleville News-Democrat and contributes to St. Louis magazine and others. A lifelong cinephile, she is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic, currently reviews films for Webster-Kirkwood Times, KTRS Radio, and the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, covers entertainment for PopLifeSTL.com, and co-hosts the podcast PopLifeSTL.com…Presents. For the Belleville News-Democrat, she reviewed film and theatre for 18 years total until parent company McClatchy Newspapers discontinued reviews nationwide in 2017. She serves on CCA’s Women and Marketing committees, is an active AWFJ member, and is an officer of the St. Louis Film Critics Association. She is a founding member of the St. Louis Theater Circle. She is retired from teaching journalism/media as an adjunct college instructor. A published author, she contributed to the Amazon best-selling anthology Ageless Glamour Girls: Reflections on Aging. Her chapter: “You Are Not Alone: Dealing with Grief and Loss.” She lives in the city of St. Louis and is the mother of two sons, Charlie Venhaus, who lives in Brooklyn, NY, and the late Tim Venhaus (1984-2018).
