A writer, speaker, and critic, Cristina Escobar works at the intersection of race, gender, and pop culture with a special interest in Latina representation in movies and TV. She has worked to advance progressive causes, helping like-minded individuals and organizations tell their stories in ways that break through the clutter. Today, she serves as Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for Free Press. She also co-founded Latina Media Co, an indie publication platforming Latina and queer Latinx perspectives in media.
She is a regular contributor to RogerEbert and has bylines in The A.V. Club, Glamour, the Los Angeles Times, NPR, Refinery29, Remezcla, TODAY, Vulture, and more, and is a TEDx speaker. She lives in Santa Fe with her husband, two kids, and rescue dog.
