In the basement of the US Grant Hotel in San Diego over 50 years ago, comic book enthusiasts, art lovers, and superhero fans came together to celebrate their shared interests. As the story goes, there were approximately 300 people there.
Now, in 2026, San Diego is projecting attendance to once again be approximately 135,000 people from over 80 countries, with credentialed media numbering over 2,500 from more than 30 countries.
The convention has moved into the 2.6 million square feet of the San Diego Convention Center, and spread outside the convention hall in the Gaslamp District and at nearby Petco park. Hollywood and countless special interests have joined the party as well, leaving attendees with a wealth of options to keep them busy July 21 through July 26.
Attendees can learn how to build a Droid from Star Wars, play Magic the Gathering on a large scale, enjoy seeing artist and cinema legend William Stout, hear John Cena talk about his new film Matchbox, or enjoy a fashion show from Her Universe. To see the full schedule, click HERE.
