- Biography:
- Sara Voorhees is the film critic for Good Day New Mexico on the NBC affiliate (KOB-TV) in Albuquerque, where she has been reviewing movies (tirelessly) for 28 years. She was nationally syndicated on TV with Conus Communications from 1987-2003 and in print with Scripps-Howard from 1990-2002. She is the membership director for the BFCA, and would like to take this opportunity to apologize to all her friends and BFCA colleagues for hounding them, with ever increasing frequency, to keep their directory information up-to-date. Sara has lived along the spine of the Rocky Mountains -- with brief intermissions -- all her life. She was born on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming, grew up in Denver, and lived for two years on the Navajo reservation before setting up house in Corrales, New Mexico, where she and her husband have raised two children, several dogs and cats, and eleven peacocks. She studied film at the University of Colorado, and finished college at the Université de Poitiers in Tours, France. She has been a translator for the French Consulate in Los Angeles, taught French in high school, trained simulated patients as a tool for medical school education, acted on the stage, and reviewed movies on television and in print since 1980. As penance for her contribution to the celebrity culture, she serves on the board of directors of the Action Coalition for Media Education. Her first novel, THE LUMIERE AFFAIR, (a mystery set at the Cannes Film Festival) was published in May of 2007 by Simon and Schuster.
