Shawn Levy has reviewed films for KGW-TV ( since 2010 and wrote about film and popular culture for The Oregonian newspaper from 1992 to 2013, including 15 years as chief film critic. He is the author of seven books including “Paul Newman: A Life,” “Rat Pack Confidential,” and “King of Comedy: The Life and Art of Jerry Lewis.” A former editor at American Film and Boxofffice magazines, he has written for Premiere, Movieline, Film Comment, Sight and Sound, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Guardian of London, the Telegraph of London, the Hollywood Reporter, the Village Voice and many other publications. He kills brain cells regularly on Twitter (@shawnlevy) and curates a robust page on Tumblr ( and doesn’t do a very good job of maintaining his personal website ( In another piece of his life, he is a board member of Operation Pitch Invasion (, a charitable group dedicated to repairing, maintaining and building soccer fields in and around Portland, Oregon, the town which he and his three children call home.
