- Gavin was born in Philadelphia and moved to Hershey, PA (where they make the chocolate) when he was 11. Ironically, Gavin can't stand chocolate now because of that. He worked at a tourist trap called Chocolate World and associates the smell with grueling football practices because the whole town smelled like chocolate. He then went to college in NYC for a double major in English and Film. He started doing morning radio in 2002 in Harrisburg, PA. In 2007, he was offered a job doing mornings in Sacramento, CA and fell in love with the city. He still hosts The Wake Up Call on 106.5 The End (KUDL) and is the movie critic for the station as well. His website, http://www.GavinGradesTheMovies.com, started almost a decade ago as a hobby but quickly grew to become one of the major destinations by Sacramento area-residents to find out what is worth their money at the box office. Gavin has two cats and got married to his long-time girlfriend Stacy in 2010. They had their first son, Connor, in 2012 and their second son, Theo, in 2016. In August 2015, they tragically lost their daughter Phoebe when they found out she had died in-utero five days after her due date. Since then, Gavin has dedicated large parts of his time to helping families who have also suffered from pregnancy and infant loss. He's a member of the local support group Sharing Parents and started a charity called Phoebe's Fund, which raises money to provide grief counseling for parents like him.
