Help the Critics Choice Association this movie awards season!

December 7, 2019 in DOCS, International, MOVIES, News, TV

It is so heartening to get so many comments from members asking what they can do to help out with our big show on January 12, or throughout the year. Actually, there are a couple of things that could be a huge help to our organization as we continue to grow the Critics Choice Association and our Critics’ Choice Awards programs.

The most important thing all members have a chance to help with is promoting our telecast on January 12, live (to most of the country) on The CW Television Network. When our nominations are announced this Sunday, December 8, it will be in the middle of a slew of organizations making similar announcements, including our friends at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association the next day. Please help your audience understand that our voting group – the Critics Choice Association – is by far the largest (400+ members) and most significant voting group outside of those for the Oscars and the Emmys. And for the next five weeks, help to build the excitement leading up to our January 12 show a week after the Globes and a day before the Oscar nominations are announced. In other words, in the heart of the movie awards season.

If you want to do more, please join our Social Media team for the day of the show. For the first time, Board Member Sean O’Connell will be organizing a team of members to shower social media with photos, videos, and behind the scenes reports from the Barker Hangar. You can even be part of the team from the comfort of your own home. Please reach out to Sean at [email protected] for more info.

And if you are fine with coming to the show as a single this year and sitting with your peers – or paired with another member at one of the “talent” tables – that will be a big help, too. With the explosion of great moving image content and content providers it continues to get harder to squeeze everyone we’d like to attend into the Barker Hangar – which is the biggest venue we can find! You can waive your $150 dues payment if you attend solo – or join the members who are paying dues AND flying solo. (If paying $150 dues is difficult for you this year, just let us know and we can waive them for you.)

And thanks for helping!
