Hey if anyone’s wavering in the “Movie Made for Television” category, I’d like to stump for THE TALE, which is a remarkable piece of work. Powerful, emotional. Also an intriguing study of memory; the lies we tell ourselves to survive. Not only did it require significant courage (it’s the true story of the writer-director’s sexual abuse as a child), but it’s quite cinematically accomplished – fine cinematography, editing, sound, etc. The acting is just great – I wish Nélisse, Debicki and Ritter had received notice as well. Just my two cents in case anyone were on the fence about this pick.

Even if you didn’t vote for it, make sure you watch the entire season of My Brilliant Friend. Some of the finest work to ever appear on the small screen. A truly edifying viewing experience.

Three more hours to vote, colleagues! The limited series category and each project’s actors made for very difficult choices as they were all such excellent contenders.
